Yes I've already mentioned about the size of post meta table currently it is more than 7gb and this table always in consideration when we perform actions in admin area.
I know they have also mentioned that before upgrade that order change operation is working fine.
But with upgrade in php and mysql their is also some restrictions applied
I suspect that this may be pdf invoice plugin issue also.
